Why is soy better than paraffin?
Paraffin contains many toxins and chemicals, that when lit are released into your home and inhaled by you and your family. Many large candle companies prefer paraffin to soy because it is cheaper and has a long shelf life as it is petroleum-based. Soy wax is often considered better than paraffin for several reasons:
Natural Origin: Soy wax is derived from soybean oil, making it a renewable resource. In contrast, paraffin wax is a byproduct of petroleum refining, which is a non-renewable resource.
Sustainability: The production of soy wax supports agricultural practices and provides opportunities for farmers. It contributes to a more sustainable economy compared to the extraction processes involved in producing paraffin.
Cleaner Burning: Soy wax typically burns cleaner than paraffin. It produces less soot and fewer toxins when burned, leading to improved indoor air quality and reducing the risk of respiratory issues.
Longer Burn Time: Soy wax candles generally have a longer burn time compared to paraffin candles. This is due to the denser nature of soy wax, resulting in a more efficient and prolonged burn.
Better Scent Throw: Soy wax has a superior scent throw when compared to paraffin. It holds fragrance oils well and releases them more effectively during burning, enhancing the overall sensory experience.
Easier Cleanup: In case of spills, soy wax is easier to clean up as it can be removed with soap and water. Paraffin, being oil-based, can be more challenging to clean.
Biodegradability: Soy wax is biodegradable, making it an environmentally friendly choice. Paraffin, on the other hand, does not break down easily in the environment, contributing to waste issues.
Choosing soy wax over paraffin aligns with more eco-conscious values and offers practical benefits, making it a preferred option for many consumers.
